So if I were you...

Hi guys, here I'm with one more post - it's been a long time since I did the last one. 

My post this time is about giving advices to someone. This is the only case that I can use "were" when talking about ourseves.

So, as I said above you use this kind of sentence when talking to someone, giving them advices. For example:

- Bob I know you're passing through dificult times, but if I were you I would sell my house and buy a motorhome.

Did you catch that? I meant the structure.

If you did not, the stucture is:

- Subject + if I were you + modal verb (could, should) or condicional (would).

In this chapter we will work with reported speeches.

In a reported speech – in which you transmit a message – you use commonly the verbs: could, would, and the pronoun please.

Examples:

_ Could you tell her (that) the meeting is on friday?

_ Would you tell her (that) the meeting is on Friday?

_ Please tell Ann (that) the meeting is on Friday?

Did you realized anything similar between these examples? The use of the same sentence repeated multiple times:

Oversleeping

Experts recommend you should get around 7 to 9 hours sleep per night. But what if you get more than that? Does anything happen to you? Can getting too much sleep ever become a real issue?
Oversleeping has been a problem of mine for many years. Despite trying out many products and resources aimed at curing insomnia, I found hardly any even mentioned oversleeping.
